Quem é Reinhard Selten?
Reinhard Selten é um economista alemão, nascido na Polónia. Obteve o Prémio Nobel de Economia em 1994, partilhado com John C. Harsanyi e John F. Nash pela sua análise pioneira do equilíbrio na teoria dos jogos não-cooperativos.
Licenciou-se em Matemática pela Johann-Wolfgang Goethe Universität Frankfurt e trabalhou por dez anos como professor assistente na Universidade de Frankfurt, onde Reinhard Selten obteve o seu doutoramento em 1961. Em 1969 entra como professor de economia na Universidade Livre de Berlim e em 1972 muda-se para o Instituto de Economia Matemática na Universidade de Bielefield . Desde 1984, Reinhard Selten leciona na Rheinische Friedrich-Universität Bonn Wilhelms.
A principal contribuição de Selten foi publicada em 1965 e contribuiu para definir os conceitos de racional e irracional em prever o resultado das decisões jogos não-cooperativos. Também refina o conceito de equilíbrio de Nash para analisar a dinâmica de estratégias de interação.
